ONE-TIME AND RECURRING MEMBERSHIPS

Your gift funds the future.  As a one-time gift or recurring donation, your membership creates a strong foundation in which future acquisitions are possible; where open space and hiking trails can be maintained, where wildlife habitat is protected, and where our children and the generations to come can enjoy Southbury as the bucolic, small town we love.

Planned Giving

One of the best methods of supporting the Southbury Land Trust is through Planned Giving. These planned gifts work by naming the Southbury Land Trust in your will or living trust or as a beneficiary of your retirement, life insurance, or financial account. There are many potential advantages to planned giving – for example, such a gift can be beneficial for tax purposes.

By remembering Southbury Land Trust in your estate plans, you will help to support our mission to preserve farmland, open spaces, and other natural resources for the benefit of present and future residents of Southbury. You will be doing your part to protect our last remaining open spaces and will have an impact on the world beyond your lifetime.  Please consider making a planned gift to Southbury Land Trust.

How do I make a planned gift to Southbury Land Trust?

If you wish to name Southbury Land Trust in your will or trust, your attorney may find the following language helpful:

I hereby give, devise, and bequeath _____________ (a dollar amount, or all or a percentage of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate) to SOUTHBURY LAND TRUST, INC a nonprofit corporation, organized and existing under the laws of the State of Connecticut, with a principal business address of P.O. Box 600 for its general purposes.

Naming SOUTHBURY LAND TRUST, INC as a beneficiary within your retirement plan, IRA, life insurance policy or bank or brokerage account, is a generous tax-wise way to make a legacy gift “outside" of a will and easy to implement.

Ask your fund manager, human resources department, or insurance agent for a change of beneficiary form and use the following information:

Legal Name: SOUTHBURY LAND TRUST, INC.

Address: P.O. Box 600
Telephone: 203-264-4441
Tax ID: 06-0977326

This information is for general purposes only and is not intended as legal or financial advice. Individual financial situations vary, and Southbury Land Trust recommends consulting with your financial and/or legal advisor
