About the event

Southbury Land Trust's annual meeting will provide highlights of the work done by your local land trust in 2025, along with a look ahead to 2026. Following the short meeting, we'll break for light refreshments, and then hear from our special guest, herpetologist Dennis Quinn. Quinn is the owner and principal herpetologist at Quinn Ecological, LLC an environmental consulting company that promotes species conservation through research-based land-use planning.

Dennis Quinn will present a discussion on CT turtles, and the snakes of Southbury, including where the elusive eastern copperhead can be seen in town. This talk will cover general species identification--the role snakes play in the environment, and conservation threats they face, along with initiatives that

can occur to better preserve these important animals on the landscape.

This is an all-ages, educational presentation, however, it is best-suited for older children and adults. Note that there will not be snakes present for observation. Registration via the library is required for Mr. Quinn's presentation.
